About Us

A "hobby-gone-horribly-wrong"...

Anyway...

Ever since I can remember, I've loved woodworking.  Like many of us, I initially learned from my father.  I got some structured learning in 4H (any of you kids out there even heard of 4H?), and through the years, picked up things from relatives, friends and people I worked for.  In the end, I learned that there were phenomenally-gifted people out there who wrote down what they learned, to share with others.  To people like Doug Stowe, Michael Fortune and a host of others, I owe a debt of gratitude.

After I graduated college with degrees in biology and psychology, I figured I'd better start looking for something to actually pay the bills.  I therefore spent a couple of decades in corporate software.  While I was paid to sell, the reality finally became clear that I sold so I could build.  My ego got the better of me and I figured "how hard can it be running your own construction company?"   Well, I got more information and found out.

Today, I build things I like.  I like nice things, but I like practical, useful things too.  I like the juxtaposition of different materials.  I like having things that are like nothing else on the market.  And above all, I like things that last.
